Teachers Profile: Brigid
I originally trained in dance, and from a very young age this was a great passion - I just loved movement and the inspiration I felt from expression and exploration of the potential for self development through the body. This interest in movement of the body and the effect on mind and well being - has been like a thread running through my life - leading me in many directions- and then into an intense period of Yoga study. Once I discovered Yoga and experienced the benefits of the practice in helping with gaining more peace of mind - I was totally motivated to find out more and pass on the benefits to others.

I have studied Sivananda style yoga in India - spending several months in the Ashram.

I also completed a 3 year British Wheel of Yoga training in London with Swami Dayamurti an inspirational teacher whose roots are in the Satyananda tradition.

I discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga when I attended a workshop with Dena Kingsberg at The Life Centre in London around 1999. I was inspired by the dynamic method and loved the practice immediately - I experienced this style of yoga as incredibly powerful - such an energising yet calming effect on mind and body. I continued to explore Ashtanga Vinyasa alongside my other yoga practice - and shortly afterwards met John Scott who has been such an amazing source of inspiration ever since. I was also very fortunate to attend workshops with Patthabbi Jois when he visited London and be a part of the incredible grpup experience of being taught by the direct Guru.

I went on to complete the 240 hour training with John and Lucy Scott in New Zealand. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to study with John and Lucy who are direct students of Patthabbi Jois.

I am now dedicating my time to teaching small groups and individuals the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Method. In this way I am promoting and continuing to pass on the teachings I have received through this very special and unique lineage.
